The additional advocate general of Haryana and his wife were shot dead, allegedly by his younger brother, at their family residence on Sunday night.

The police suspect that a property dispute could be the cause of the murders.

Sanjiv Sura (36), used to reside on the first floor of the building while his younger brother Ankur (32), lived on the ground floor.

Sanjiv was appointed additional advocate general on December 1 last year and had come to meet his family over the weekend.

On Sunday night, Ankur asked his brother to come down to discuss a property issue. As soon as Sanjiv came down, Ankur shot him in theforehead, police said.

On hearing the gunshot, Sanjiv’s wife Sunita (32), rushed down and she was shot too.

Ankur fled the scene with his wife and two children, but was nabbed near Bawani Khera, around 40 km from here.
