Highlight Story

The admissions for reserved category students that started on Friday went off smoothly at the south campus colleges except for a few minor hiccups. While the Sri Venkateswara College was crowded with students seeking admission under reserved category, there were not any counselors around to help solve their queries.

The enquiry counters that were generally manned by the college staff till Thursday were empty.

Students, mostly those from the northeastern states had only each other to solve their problems. “It was very difficult to even locate the counter where I had to submit my form. Every one I asked turned out to be another student or parent,” said Alan, from northeast.

Many students faced trouble as they failed to bring all the required documents. “I have come all the way from Sonepat but I will have to come tomorrow again as I forgot to bring some papers,” said Surinder (name changed), another student.

Another problem many students faced was filling up the forms. “The form is quite simple and clear, as one language is necessary, therefore English plus three best subjects have to be filled, but many students are confused which subjects to mention,” said Amena Mahmood, Proctor, Gargi College.

“In order to avoid further confusion we have put up posters about the required certificates, but still there are queries regarding it,” she added. Not everyone was disappointed though. “I applied for English (H) at Gargi as my first choice, and my name was there in the first list,” said Jyoti who has scored 68 per cent.
