Adulterated oil: FIRs lodged against eight

THE POLICE today lodged FIRs against eight persons at various police stations following Monday?s raids at several places against those involved in the preparation of adulterated diesel and illegal storage of kerosene. However, raid teams were still investigating the case.

THE POLICE today lodged FIRs against eight persons at various police stations following Monday’s raids at several places against those involved in the preparation of adulterated diesel and illegal storage of kerosene. However, raid teams were still investigating the case.

During a late Monday-night raid, cops seized over 2000 litres of adulterated diesel, petroleum products, kerosene oil and measuring tools. The district administration and district supply department officials had jointly carried out the raids.The maximum number of adulteration cases came to light under Panki police station and its adjoining area under Sachendi police station.

FIR against Pradeep Kumar Gupta, a tempo driver, and his helper Ajai Kumar Gupta was lodged with the Babupurwa poilce station. They were caught with five drums of kerosene oil (1100 litres) meant for distribution through PDS. The oil had been issued to a ration shop in Sujatganj but the consignment was being transported to Budhapuri in Babupurwa.

Similarly, the raid team led by additional city magistrate (ACM) SK Dubey and assistant rationing officer (ARO) SK Srivastava sized 1050 litres of adultered diesel from a shop near Bhola Hotel at Bahunti. An FIR was lodged with the Panki police against Pradeep Mishra. The same team had raided another adjoining shop and an FIR against Rajahs Dixit was lodged with the Panki police station for his alleged role in preparing adulterated diesel.

An FIR was lodged against an unknown person with the Panki police station following the seizure of 65 litres of black oil and 770 litres of diesel mix from a building near Nahria Bridge.

Another team led by ACM Saket Bihari sized 390 litres of blue kerosene oil, 70 litres of petroleum products, 150 litres of furnish oil, 330 litres of another type oil from a shop near GSIG School at Bhaunti. Complaints against Manna Singh and Ramesh were lodged with the Sanchedi police.

Similarly, a report was lodged against Jagdish when 1240 litres of adulterated diesel was found in his possession under the Panki police station area.An FIR against Pappu Tiwari of Jal Tarang market in Bahunti was also lodged when the raid team found 770 litres of adulterated diesel and 70 litres of brown oil from his shop. 

In Bahunti, a raid was also carried out on a factory producing industrial solvent. The factory was raided as its owner was facing charges of sale and excise tax evasion and refused to extending cooperation to the teams, DSO Anoop Shankar said.
