Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Tuesday termed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani's 'Jan Chetna Yatra' as an "insult" to the land of Jayaprakash Narayan as the socialist leader was against BJP ideology.

Lalu Prasad said the public awareness march was “just an excuse” and added that Advani wants to further his leadership ambition. "By beginning the yatra from Sitab Diara village, they are insulting the land where Jayaprakash Narayan was born since he was against RSS and BJP ideology."

The RJD chief also accused Advani of making false claims that his yatra is against corruption. "It is to fulfil his bigger political interest," he said.

Advani's 38-day cross-country public awareness campaign is scheduled to cover 12,000 km and will see the octogenarian cover about 300 km a day in his special rath or modified bus. His sixth road campaign will take him to 23 states and four union territories.
