Amid the report of cracks within Anna Hazare's team over support to proposed nationwide yatra of Bhartiya Janta Party's (BJP) leader LK Advani against graft, Arvind Kejriwal, a key member of the team Anna termed Advani's yatra as a political gimmick.
"Anna's proposed yatra is for civil society while LK Advani's yatra is a political gimmick", told Arvind Kejriwal to Hindustan Times on Monday. It is noteworthy that team Anna also plans to reach out masses in the poll bound states including Uttarakhand, which goes to polls early next year.
"We will ask voters to boycott those who do not support Jan Lokpal", said Kejriwal. He added members of the team Anna have no plan to contest polls.
Kejriwal is in Dehradun with two others members – Prashant Bhusan and Kumar Viswas on invitation of Uttarakhand chief minister Maj Gen (retd) BC Khanduri. The team will call on Khanduri today evening.
Uttarakhand is the second state after Bihar which has approached team Anna. "Earlier we met Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, we are waiting for the further response from him", Kejriwal added.
As per team Anna Uttarakhand CM has sought a detailed discussion on making Lokayukt more powerful in state. "On similar lines of Jan Lokpall we have also prepared draft for Jan Lokayukt", told Prashant Bhusan.
Bhusan added there is no uniform Lokayukt body in states. "There are loopholes in Lokayukt body many states. Lokayukt’s should be selected through a committee and not by government".
