BJP's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani's demand for probe into local support to 26/11 strikes today drew flak from Congress, which said the saffron party leader should "adhere to commitment" of speaking in "one vioce" on the issue of Mumbai attacks.
"Advani should adhere to the commitment ... BJP has forgotten the commitment made in Parliament that India will speak in one voice on the terror attacks," Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma told reporters, referring to Advani's remarks that the 26/11 attacks were not possible without local link.
"Let us leave this (local link angle) to the investigating agencies. It won't be appropriate for the Leader of Opposition to drag the issue in partisan politics with the objective of forthcoming elections," the senior Congress leader said.
"During NDA regime, Congress as a responsible opposition, refrained from saying anything which would have weakened our position globally, on issues like terror attack on Parliament, Red Fort and hijack of Indian Airlines plane to Kandahar," the minister said.
