In an apparent bid to reap dividends from the Amarnath issue, senior BJP leader L K Advani will embark on a nationwide tour starting on September, during which he will also address a rally in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The tour would be a mix of road shows, rallies and other contact programs. It would be an aggressive campaign spanning months and the details are still to be worked out," sources in the party told PTI.
Announcing a long drawn-out plan of the party's campaign after the meeting of the party office bearers in New Delhi on Monday, party spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad said, "The 'Sankalp Yatra' of L K Advani which had to be abandoned due to rain would begin starting September."
The meeting on Monday also decided to convene the party's three-day National Executive meet on September 12 in Bangalore. Advani would begin his 'Yatra' after the party executive and party leader Muqtar Abbas Naqvi and Anant Kumar have been assigned jobs for its coordination and conduct.
Apart from the Sankalp Yatra, Advani along with party Chief Rajnath Singh would jointly address a rally of the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti in Jammu on 25th of this month, the party said today.
"The 'Intellectual Cell' of the party would be organising talks and seminars across the country to build public opinion of the citizens against the injustice happening over the Amarnath issue. Party vice-president Bal Apte would co-ordinate the meetings," Prasad added.
The party has already announced a nationwide court arrest program on August 21 on the Amarnath issue, terming it as the "Protect Jammu and Kashmir" day.
The party would also organise a 'Dalit Reservation Protection Rally' in the capital on September 21.
