The Samajwadi Party has said the issue Jaya Bachchan's disqualification from the Rajya Sabha for holding an office of profit is now with the 'people's court' after the Supreme Court dismissed her petition challenging the order.

"The matter is now in the court of the people," SP general secretary and Lok Sabha member Beni Prasad Verma said.

He claimed that more than 100 MPs and MLAs of different political parties from across the country were holding offices of profit.

Verma said that the Centre should have thought about bringing a legislation in the Parliament to settle the matter before disqualification of Bachchan.
