Afzal ?hanged? at 10 places in City

LOCAL BJP activists hanged the effigy of terrorist Mohammed Afzal Guru at about 10 places in City on Friday to demand capital punishment for the man convicted for attacking Parliament. About 11 security personnel had lost their lives in the attack.

The Supreme Court has awarded capital punishment to Afzal, but his clemency petition is pending with President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. BJP Subhash Mandal workers held the first demonstration at Tori Corner Junction at 10 am. Another followed at Marimata by Laxmibai Mandal at 10.30 am.

Deendayal Mandal staged the demonstration at Patnipura Junction while workers of Ambedkar Mandal hanged the effigy at Chimanbag Junction. Similar displays followed at Jabaran Colony, Tower Chouraha, Maharana Pratap, Agrasen Junctions and Tilak statue by Ahilya Mandal, Hemu Kalani, Maharana Pratap, Shivaji and Tilak Mandal respectively. However, the main effigy hanging took place at Rajwada at 11 am. BJP Minority Morcha staged it.
