Unidentified gunmen shot at the manager of a sari showroom in Agra and looted Rs 3 million while he was on his way to the bank.

The incident occurred on Monday in the upmarket Civil Lines area as the manager and two staffers of Suresh Chand Dinesh Chand sari shop were getting into a car to deposit money in the bank.

The manager, Anil Aggarwal was shot in the abdomen. The 46-year-old was rushed to a nursing home and underwent surgery. But he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.

According to the owner of the showroom, located near the divisional commissioner's residence, Aggarwal and two staffers had just got into a car with the money when another car rammed into their car.

Three armed men came out, smashed the window of the car and snatched the bag from Aggarwal after shooting him.

The other two staffers escaped unhurt.

Police later sealed all city borders and carried out combing operations. Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Juneja said investigations were underway.
