A 1,000-strong squad of 'Black Cats' comprising local AIADMK workers will provide "foolproof" security to their leader Jayalalithaa during her visit to Madurai on Monday for a protest demonstration against the state government.

The squad was formed a few days ago to provide security to the former chief minister, following continuous threats to her life, party sources said.

The party has accused the government and the police of not ensuring adequate security cover to Jayalalithaa.

The 'Black Cats' are experts in martial arts such as karate and kung-fu. They are also proficient in some local martial forms and sports, besides winning several awards at the state level, they claimed.

They would be part of the AIADMK chief's convoy from the Madurai Airport to the venue and back, they added.

AIADMK-backed Jaya TV received more than 15 letters and a phone call warning her not to visit the city ever since Jayalalithaa announced the scheduled demonstration last month.

The state government decided to transfer the cases relating to the threats to the CBI following demand by the AIADMK.
