All India Congress Committee spokesperson Manish Tewari on Thursday said that the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bhartiya Janata Party alliance government had thrown the state into total bankruptcy and imposed financial emergency.

"This is the natural consequence of the wrong policies of the government which have been admitted to time and again by no less a person than Finance Minister, Manpreet Badal, himself", he said in a statement in Ludhiana.

Tewari said it is unprecedented that a state government has brought a 'vote on account' budget in a non election year.

"It is no less than the financial emergency as the state has no funds even to pay the salaries", he said while adding, "otherwise what is the rationale behind bringing a vote on account budget in a non election year".

He said, the silence of the Finance Minister on the crucial issue was intriguing.
