Scaling down

• AICTE inspected 3,270 of the

  4,224 technical institutes in the

   country.

• Inspection revealed inadequate

   infrastructure, faculty deficiency

  & norms’ violation

• 45 institutes put under no-

  admission category

The step was taken after an inspection exercise that revealed inadequate infrastructure, faculty deficiency and violation of norms. Of the total 4,224 technical education institutes in the country, AICTE inspected 3,270.

“The remaining are under different stages of process and final decision will be taken soon,” AICTE’s vice-chairperson R A Yadav said. The council reduced intake in 404 institutes and put 45 institutes under no-admission category.

“No admission will be allowed in these 45 institutes for the next academic year. In future, admission can be allowed if deficiencies are removed as per our satisfaction.

Institutes where intake has been reduced, can get the status restored if they submit the compliance report by May 31,” he said. If the figures are compared with admissions last year, the maximum reduction is in engineering and technology courses.
