A patient was found hanging from a shower tap in a bathroom of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa on Monday. The police said, Ravindra Kamble (45), an autorickshaw driver from Mumbra, was found hanging by the relative of another patient at 10 pm.
Kamble had been rushed to the hospital on Monday after he complained of stomachache. “He suffered from suspected sub-acute intestinal obstruction. His post-mortem suggests he died due to hanging. We have formed a committee to inquire as to whether there were any lapses on the administrative front,” said acting dean of the hospital, Dr D.V. Kulkarni.
“He didn’t say anything that would have alerted me of this extreme step,” said Kamble’s wife, Yamini (45).
Kamble’s relatives and the police suspect he was depressed because of his illness. The Kalwa police has registered a case of suicide.
