Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been gracing the Cannes red carpet since 2002. Here’s a look at her much-talked-about appearances at the French Riviera
Aishwarya Rai made her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival at the premiere of the film Devdas. She sported an ethnic look by wearing a canary yellow sari with an embellished border. She teamed up her look with traditional gold jewellery, and kept her hair loose.
This year Aishwarya was chosen as the first ever Indian actor to be a jury member at Cannes. For the consecutive year, she sported an ethnic attire. She wore a hot pink noodle-strap corset paired with an embroidered lehenga designed by Neeta Lulla. However her gaudy look wasn’t much appreciated by fashion watchers.
This year Ash ditched the desi look and went for a white shimmery gown, with a plunging neckline. She sported curly hair, and accessorised with a silver clutch and jewellery from Chopard. This look too didn’t go down well with critics, who termed the dress inappropriate for her body type.
Ash stunned all with her fresh new look, this year. She looked flirty and fabulous in a floral feminine gown. This simple yet striking look was appreciated by the media across the world.
This year again Ash managed to impress fashion watchers as she strutted in a midnight blue skin-hugging Roberto Cavalli gown. However, her snake-inspired jarring neckpiece didn’t quite make for a good choice.
Ash made her first appearance with husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan at the Cannes, this year. Their film, Guru was screened at the festival. She wore an off-shoulder white Giorgio Armani gown with a stunning diamond neckpiece. The look was loved by all.
Aishwarya Rai arrived in a black gown with a plunging neckline and a long trail, at the premiere of the film, Blindness. She looked radiant in minimal makeup and a stylish updo.
This was Aishwarya’s one of the most stunning appearance at the Cannes. She dazzled in a lavish white Roberto Cavalli off-shoulder pleated and ruffled gown. The lovely diamond earrings with pearl drop complimented her look to which she added more drama by tying her hair into a chignon.
Ash wore a full-length lilac Elie Saab gown on the red carpet. While net covered her bare shoulders, the entire gown had fish scales of net and a long train. Her beehive hairdo, however, earned her a lot of flak from the fashion gurus.
Last year, Ash wore a one-shoulder neutral tone Elie Saab gown from the Spring / Summer 2011 couture collection. She looked ravishing in the peplum-waist gown as she completed her look with a Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch and Chopard jewels.
