Actor Ajay Devgn has bought the rights of Malayalam action film Puthiya Mukham for an undisclosed amount, to remake it in Hindi.

The film, which starred Kerala superstar Prithviraj, was one of the biggest hits of 2009. The Hindi remake, produced by Devgn, will be directed by Rohit Shetty.

“I have seen Puthiya Mukham three times. Ajay and I have been wanting to do a hardcore action film for the last three years. At last, we are doing it,” says Shetty.

Shooting for the film is scheduled to go on the floors by year-end or early next year, as Ajay already has his hands full with a number of films releasing this year, including Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? and Rajniti.
