After the debacle of its special effects-packed Drona, the corporate house Eros Entertainment has developed frosty feet about its next fantasy film Aladdin featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Although the company has announced the release date as December 24, now it’s having second thoughts.
The trade buzz is that since it’s a fantasy film, the corporate house was aiming for a Christmas release to encash on the holiday season in the overseas market but now the release may get postponed to next year.
Reason: the corporate house is waiting for Aamir Khan to take a decision on whether he will go ahead with the release of Ghajini on December 24.
Talk is that Aamir Khan may postpone the release since he’ll be busy with his Oscar preparations for Taare Zameen Par during the year-end.
A source close to the film’s unit states that even the dubbing of the major cast is over and the corporate house is ready with the publicity material. “The aim is to get Aladdin a solo release since the project has gone over-budget,” the source informs.
The news in the trade is that after giving a series of flops with Omkara, No Smoking, Sunday, One Two Three, Haal-e-Dil, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai and Drona, Eros Entertainment is desperate for a hit.
