Have you heard of a family where all the members go deaf either after the age of 10 or after tying the knot?

Well, sounds strange but a similar family has been found in Rampur Chajmal village where the members lose their sense of hearing and this has been happening from last four generations extending over a span of over 120 years!

Neighbours, doctors and family members are surprised whether to call this a divine curse or a genetic disorder. Doctors are trying to explore the reason as to why after getting married the family members go deaf.

The current generation comprises of Ramdhan and his three sons Jado Singh, Bhado Singh, and Aminchand. Ram Dhan and Jado Singh died some time ago. Jado Singh's daughter Somi and his son Sukhe and his grandson Shivram are all deaf. Amin Chand's sons Chandra Pal Pat Ram and daughters Harwati and Savitri are also deaf.

The people of the family say that on birth, the members have no hearing disability but they become deaf when they reach the age of ten. If this does not happen at the age of ten then after marriage they become deaf, be it male or female. The family is popularly called 'The family of the deaf'.
