Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar and former Samajwadi Party MLA Suneelam on Wednesday led protests at the offices of Congress and BJP here as part of Anna Hazare's campaign for a strong Lokpal Bill.
After staging the protests, both Medha and Suneelam told reporters that there is no substance in allegations that Hazare's agitation is backed by RSS and BJP.
Patkar also termed as "totally wrong" the statement of author-activist Arundhati Roy that the Gandhian's anti-graft stir was supported only by the middle-class people.
"I have been to the Ramlila Ground (where Hazare is sitting on fast) and people belonging to all sections of the society are extending support to the movement."
All forms of protests, including those outside the residences of Members of Parliament, are totally constitutional, the veteran social activist said.
Patkar said she has appealed to everyone to rise above politics and extend support to the Jan Lokpal Bill and ensure its early passage in Parliament.
No BJP leader came out during the protest at the party office, while at the Congress State headquarters, party Spokesman JP Dhanopia said he is against corruption but he is not authorised to speak on the issue of Lokpal or Jan Lokpal.
