Fed up with alleged harassment by Bajranj Dal workers and indifferent attitude of police, a man tried to immolate self by pouring kerosene on himself in Satna district on Thursday afternoon. Satna superintendent of police said the matter was being investigated.

Ranjeet Verma, 30, poured kerosene over him near Civil Line police station building and tried to immolate self but police personnel reached the spot and saved him.

Ranjeet Verma said, "A year ago, Bajranj Dal workers Raj Bahadur Mishra, Sachin Shukla and Anshay Singh had kidnapped me; but instead of taking action against them, police sent me to jail."

He alleged that workers were pressurising him for out of court settlement and police were also not supporting him. Two days ago, Verma wrote to Satna SP Irshad Wali to take action against workers otherwise he would commit suicide.

However, the SP said, "Both the parties leveled allegations against each other. Police have also taken action against workers. So police can't be blamed." The superintendent of police added that they were investigating into the matter so that truth could come out.
