THE MP High Court here today directed the West Central Railway to allow the six women ticket collectors (sports quota), whose services were terminated, to reside at the official accommodation till the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) decides their case.

The ticket collectors (TCs) were sacked for not participating in one of the matches of All India Railway Volleyball (Women’s) Championship held at Chennai in November last.

The High Court considered the plea of the women TCs on grounds that they are the residents of distant places and they don’t have any place to reside in the City other than the Government accommodation.

Soon after receiving their termination order of March 17, the six TCs challenged it in the CAT. Also, in the meantime they moved the High Court for instant relief.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Ajit Singh further directed the CAT to dispose of their matter within one month from April 7 so that the HC could take up the case for hearing on interim relief to quash the termination order.
