The Tamar constituency by-poll on December 29 has pitted Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and his Cabinet colleague Enos Ekka face to face.

Despite pressure from the CM and the UPA, Jharkhand Party’s Ekka has refused to withdraw his candidate Gopal Krishna Patar aka Raja Peter.

On the last day of the withdrawal of nomination on Monday, Peter withdrew his nomination as an Independent but held the ground as Jharkhand Party’s nominee. There are now 15 candidates along with Soren in the contest.

Soren is already up against NDA nominee Vasundhara Devi, widow of slain legislator Ramesh Singh Munda, who is riding on the crest of sympathy wave. The AJSU party and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha are all set to give Soren sleepless nights.
