Alok Singh Gaur (22), a student, who was found hanging in his room in Allahpur's Baghambari Gaddi Housing Scheme had not committed suicide but was strangled to death and then hanged with a nylon rope to give suicide angle to the incident. This fact came to light following the autopsy of his body.

Who were the people behind this crime could not be immediately known but the cops have started working on the murder theory after knowing the result of the post mortem.

Alok lived in a rented room in the house of one Harish Chandra Singh in Baghambari Gaddi area. Having done his graduation from Ewing Christian College he was preparing for  competitive examinations. His father Surendra Singh Gaur posted as district minorities welfare officer at Kanpur rushed to the city after getting the sad news.

Police had also found a suicide note in the room in which indecent language had been used for two girls. Police also feels that no person would use such language in a letter which one writes before a planned death.

Another factor which has raised the police suspicion is the back door of the room in which Alok was found hanging. This door was found open.

Prima facie following the recovery of suicide note it appeared that Alok was close to two girls for whom he had used unpalatable language.

Whether, love affair was the real cause behind Alok's death could not be immediately known.
