An American national was arrested at the city airport after seven live cartridges were found in his luggage, police said on Saturday.
Henry Hen was held last night when he was boarding a flight to the US and seven live cartridges of .22 bore were recovered from his jacket, which was a part of his hand luggage, a senior police official from the Sahar police station said.
"We have registered a case under the Arms Act, he said adding the US national, who is a electronic goods businessman, has told the police that he was carrying the cartridges in his luggage by mistake.
"Hen said he had an arms licence at his hometown in Texas and we are verifying the circumstances under which he was carrying the cartridges, the police official said.
Hen came to the country last month and was residing in Andhra Pradesh. He will be produced in a court today after which he can seek bail, the official added.
