Amity University will open a medical college in Pachgaon near Manesar in 2012. It will also serve as a hospital.
“We chose Manesar over Noida and other areas (where Amity runs its campuses) because the location is simply too good. It is closer to the international airport. Patients from abroad can come to use easily,” said Ashok K Chauhan, chancellor, Amity University, Haryana.
The university plans to use one-third of the 110-acre campus to run the college. It will also have a rehabilitation centre and a mental care centre as well, an idea proposed by Chauhan. The hospital will have 300 beds.
Chauhan said students won’t have to pay any capitation fee. The college will also run courses in alternate medicine such as in Ayurveda, naturopathy and homeopathy.
Admissions to the MBBS course will start next year, while admissions for nursing course will start this July.
