Ammo missing from armoury in UP

Close on the heels of arrest of CRPF and Uttar Pradesh Police jawans for supplying ammunition to criminal gangs and possibly Naxals, ammunitions have been found missing from armoury of two police stations in Aligarh, a senior officer said on Thursday.

Close on the heels of arrest of CRPF and Uttar Pradesh Police jawans for supplying ammunition to criminal gangs and possibly Naxals, ammunitions have been found missing from armoury of two police stations in Aligarh, a senior officer said on Thursday.

Cases have been lodged against chief armourer Rampal of Sasani Gate police station and Sanjeevan, who was posted as armourer at Kotwali police station but was terminated from service in 2003, ADG Brij Lal told reporters in Lucknow.

During inspection at Sasani Gate police station, 870 cartridges of 303 bore, 119 of 38 bore, 22 of 9 mm, 23 of very light pistol and four speed handgrenades were found missing.
