AMU suspends 17 for 'ransacking' VC's office

The Aligarh Muslim University suspends 17 students for their alleged involvement in violent protests which rocked the campus following the murder of a student on Sep 16.

The Aligarh Muslim University on Tuesday suspended 17 students for their alleged involvement in violent protests which rocked the campus following the murder of a student on September 16.

Among those who were suspended for the ransacking of the Vice Chancellor's office include recently dissolved students Union secretary Sulaiman Mohd Khan.

Vice Chancellor PK Abdul Azis has also ordered that the campus be "out of bounds" for the suspended students pending enquiry by the University Disciplinary Committee.

Earlier, the university authorities had lodged complaint with the Police against 25 people, including students and others.
