Highlight Story

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the latest addition to the long list of sukhi married couples of showbiz. Here’s a look at the top five:

Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu
This legendary couple has proved that age has nothing to do with love and a successful marriage..they have an age difference of 22 years. The couple has been married for over three decades now.. still going strong as ever.

Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bhaduri
The golden couple of the film industry is by far one of the most celebrated couples till date. Just like the recent low-key wedding of their son Abhishek..hyped of course by the media.. Amitabh’s own wedding to Jaya Bhaduri was low-key. The couple tied the knot on 3 June, 1973. The wedding, long foreseen, was to be kept secret, because of Amitabh’s rising popularity .

The only guests to be invited then were the Rajans and the Gandhis. Jaya’s family decided to hold it at a friend’s place at the Skylark building in Malabar Hills, where it could pass off unnoticed.

Dharmendra- Hema Malini
News about them doing a movie together again after nearly two decades had been all over the newspapers lately. Regardless of that, they’ve been together as parents.. creating what one would call a new definition of love.

They have two daughters — Esha and Ahana Deol.

Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh
They are said to be inseparable. Neetu Singh, whose sole concern in life at a career high and 21 years of age was Rishi Kapoor. Kapoor once gifted a locket in the shape of a key which he says “is the key to his heart.” And she proudly flaunted in the song Keh dun tumhe in the movie Deewar.

Their son Ranbir will make his film debut later this year. Daughter Riddhima was married last year.

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri
Theirs was a fairytale wedding... a rather dramatic one at that. Gauri’s parents were against the alliance. The mother had even threatened to commit suicide, while the father firmly believed the marriage wouldn’t work out.

For six years, they carried on their relationship clandestinely. Slowly, King Khan managed to patao all her relatives.

Gradually, everyone started liking him and all her mamas and mamis assured him that her parents would come around. After a long struggle, they did. The couple is happily wedded for over 15 years now with two children — Aryan and Suhana.

Some marriages are truly made in heaven.
