A student from Andhra Pradesh has gone missing in New Zealand for the past 11 days.

Twenty-three-year-old R Srikanth, a resident of Mettuguda here, studying advanced Diploma course in hotel management at Auckland University of Technology, was missing, R Chakrapani, father of the student said quoting the New Zealand Police.

"This morning my daughter and son-in-law, who stay in Auckland, phoned me and said that there were no developments with regard to police investigations," Chakrapani said.

Srikanth, left for college on October 1, but has not returned till date, his father said, adding "We are still hoping for his safe return."

The youngster's family members said they are worried over his disappearance amid the recent spate of racial attacks on Indians in Australia and said a cyclist had found Srikanth's wallet, bag and mobile phone on roadside in West Hamin Marina on October 2.

The worried parents of the missing youth appealed to the Centre and state government to take up the matter with authorities in New Zealand to trace their son.

Chakrapani said they would meet Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI affairs D Sridhar Babu on Monday and submit a memorandum requesting him to forward it to concerned authorities at the Centre.
