NEARLY THREE months have passed since Satya Narayan Srivastava took over the charge of Municipal Commissioner of Allahabad but the Allahabad Nagar Nigam (ANN) website still displays the name of his predecessor.

Notably, Allahabad Nagar Nigam is the first civic body in the State which has launched its website on July 11 this year in order to make the governance and administration people friendly and service oriented in the country.

Besides, many important links of the website are still not functional. The website was launched at the initiative of NN Administrator Amrit Abhijat who also happens to be the District Magistrate.

But surprisingly, the website has not been updated as it still displays the name of Gaya Prasad as the Municipal Commissioner in place of the present incumbent Satya Narayan Srivastava. Similarly the website still shows the name of Dr PK Singh as the Health Officer although he has also been transferred months back.

Apart from this the website also does not contain the changed phone numbers of officers as result the basic purpose of providing up-to-date information to public gets defeated. Also, its feedback, complaint, major project, right to information cell links are yet to be made fully functional.

A special feature of the on-line grievance redressal system has been provided in the website which allows any citizen to bring his problems to the immediate notice of the NN officials at the former's convenience. However, the service is not upto mark.

This system is distinguished by its ability to sort out the complaints of the different departments and make available status updates on Internet promptly.

The NN has also put the details of house tax on-line to ensure maximum transparency. The tax assessment, arrears, late fee etc have been brought on-line.

Giving special focus on the Right to Information, the NN has implemented the on-line method for providing information sought by citizens under the RTI Act.

Notably, NN has also plan to implement other interfaces to these Internet based facilities like telephones based complaint filing and processing over next few months.

When asked about the deficiencies in the website Municipal Commissioner Satya Narayan Srivastava said he would look into the matter.
