Team Anna would start its campaign in the five poll-bound states from Saturday and the first public meeting would be addressed on Rishikul grounds of Haridwar, said Manish Sissodia of Team Anna. According to him, the aim of the group is to make people aware of every party's stand on the lokpal bill.
This civil society group had earlier planned its campaign from February 3 in Uttar Pradesh but now Uttarakhand is on its priority schedule. Earlier too, during Gayatri Kumbh celebration last year, Anna was to share the platform in Haridwar but the plans had to be changed because of the stampede mishap.
"Annaji may also join the campaign, we are trying hard for that, but Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan, Kejriwal are the confirmed campaigners," added Manish. Anna factor is being seen as a major jolt to Congress since Anna has given thumbs up to BJP led Khanduri government for bringing Lokayukta bill.
Meanwhile, Dehradun based NGO - RLEK slammed team Anna for its double take on corruption. Avdhash Kaushal of RLEK said team Anna were coming in support of politics and were doing so only to cover up the corruption done by the NGOs owned by the team members. He asked the team Anna to visit Ramdev who had "usurped the land of village Panchayats through corrupt means". "The best part is that the members of the committee formed to welcome them and organise their campaign in Uttarakhand are the ones who are known for encouraging corruption and wrong doings in the state," Kaushal added.
