Annan visits Sikh battalion in Lebanon

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan visited the Sikh battalion which is currently deployed in Lebanon as part of UN Interim Force in that country (UNIFIL).

The Indian battalion has been deployed in South Lebanon since December last year and has held the ground strongly during the Israel-Lebanon conflict, an official release said on Wednesday.

Annan visited the UN positions 8-32 and 8-33, which were severely affected during the conflict, and complimented the soldiers of 4 Sikh battalion deployed at the posts.
