Highlight Story

AROUND A dozen milkmen beat up the driver of a bus belonging to Imperial Academy on Friday morning after he hit one of their brethren who was going on a bicycle at Geeta Nagar near Padmavati Colony.

Over 25 children and several teachers were inside the bus at the time of the incident. Many of the terrified children started crying and shouting for help as the milkmen beat the driver so badly that he fell unconscious. They also pelted stones and broke the windows of the bus.

This is the second incident within two days in which the bus of an educational institution was damaged. On Thursday, a bus of Islamia Karimia Degree College (IKDC) was set afire by a mob at Rajwada.

Interestingly, the incident occurred at a place near a well-developed colony, but no one came to the driver’s rescue. Ultimately, it was a Palasia police team including TI Deepak Shukla who reached the spot and got the unconscious driver admitted to MY Hospital.

Another bus was called and the children were sent to their school. The driver, Mohan (48) resident of Teen Imli, had picked up the children from the Geeta Nagar area and was going towards the school when he hit a milkman. The children travelling in the bus said Mohan and conductor Radheshyam got down and apologised to the milkman.

However, the milkman summoned his friends over mobile and they got together and mercilessly beat up Mohan. They fled when they saw the police approaching.

TI Deepak Shukla said that so far no one had been arrested, but they had learnt that one Yogendra and some others were involved in beating up the driver.
