Even as YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy cooled his heels in jail for yet another day, he kept the heat on for his opposition, as yet another Congress legislator joined his party.

A day after Congress MLA from Bobbili K Ranga Rao joined Jagan, Eluru MLA Alla Nani met him at Chanchalguda Central jail on Thursday and announced his resignation from the party. Four more leaders — two each from the Congress and TDP — are likely to follow soon.

Congress legislators, Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy from Kakinada and S Jayamani from Parvathipuram, who called on Jagan’s mother and honorary chief of YSR Congress, Vijayalaxmi, at Visakhapatnam seem set to join the party soon.

TDP’s first-time MLA Chinnam Ramakotaiah, representing Nuziveedu, on Thursday announced that he was resigning. Though he did not reveal his plans, his supporters said he was headed for Jagan`s party. Another TDP MLA Bala Nagi Reddy met Jagan on Wednesday.

Sources in the YSR Congress said Jagan had advised the MLAs to stagger their resignations to keep the pot boiling till the bypolls were over.
