One more Delhi Police head constable has been arrested in connection with the case in which phone call detail records (CDRs) of BJP leader Arun Jaitley and some other politicians and businessmen were being accessed illegally by a group of Delhi police personnel and private detectives.

With this new arrest, the total number of people arrested by the special cell of Delhi police has reached 11. Six people, including three Delhi police personnel and three private detectives, were arrested on Wednesday. Another Delhi police constable Arvind Dabas and three other detectives, including the mastermind Anurag Singh, were arrested earlier this year.

The arrested head constable, identified as Rajkumar Singh, was nabbed following interrogation of ASI Gopal Das, Head Constable Harish Negi and Constable Harish Kumar, who were arrested on Wednesday along with three private detectives - Puneet Verma, Meraj Saifi and Alok Gupta. Saifi reportedly is also a Home Guard jawan.

According to a senior police officer, Rajkumar was posted at the office of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Khajoori Khas. Rajkumar along with Gopal, Harish Negi and Harish Kumar, were obtaining CDRs of politicians and businessmen on the instructions of Anurag Singh.

The arrested police personnel were getting between Rs 5,000 and Rs 15,000 for each CDR they were illegally obtaining using the e-mail IDs of the ACPs. Anurag used to sell those CDRs to his clients who were procuring them for their personal and professional benefits, police said.

On Thursday afternoon, the six people arrested in the case were produced before a city court from where they were sent to three-day police custody. During interrogation, it was revealed that Rajkumar was also a part of their network.

Even as the police claimed that the seven arrested in the last two days were not directly involved in illegally obtaining Jaitley’s CDR, investigators told HT that they were working on Anurag Singh’s instructions.
