Another girl falls prey to lust, cruelty

india Updated: Jul 23, 2006 01:50 IST

AS THE 21-year-old hapless girl related her tale of agony at the Hazratganj police station, she shivered and tears began to trickle down her cheeks.

The girl, who was working at a shop in Hazratganj, fell prey to Ashiana-type rape and excruciating torture at the hands of 5 youths, who not  only outraged her modesty but also burnt her private parts.

Devastated, the girl took almost three weeks to muster enough courage and reached the police station only on Friday to relate her tale of woes.

The girl was working as security guard at a shop in Hazratganj.  She was sent for the medical examination and the police arrested the accused named in the complaint lodged by the girl’s mother. The doctors, after the medical examination, confirmed the injury marks.

She said that as she was leaving the shop located at Tulsi complex late in the evening on June 30, five youths who were working in two different shops adjacent to the complex pounced upon her. The youths were identified as Derrick, Mukesh, Rakesh Kumar, Deep and Dilip Kumar. While three youths gagged her, one of them administered an injection to her leaving her semi-unconscious.

When they dragged her into a car, she fell unconscious. It was late in the night that she got around and found herself lying on the road near her house. She said that her private parts were burnt. On getting around, she somehow managed to reach her home, but did not tell her mother about the incident.

Her mother, who lodged the FIR, said that her daughter confined herself to a room and did not talk to any on in the family. It was after two weeks that the girl broke down before her mother and related the incident.

SP (East) AS Rai said that whatever the girl narrated appeared true as she had the injury marks on her private parts.  The arrested youths did not confess to committing the crime. The police would seek court remand for the accused for interrogation.
