After a businessman was arrested on Thursday for alleged torture of a minor domestic help, Gurgaon police on Friday apprehended his son in connection with the case.
Maneesh Gupta, 26, the son of Ishwar Gupta, was produced before a local court, which granted him bail.
“We are investigating the matter and more arrests are likely in the coming days,” a jpolice officer said.
The eight-year-old boy was rescued from Gupta’s house in DLF Phase-1 on Wednesday.
A case was registered under Section 23 (cruelty to juvenile or child) and Section 26 (exploitation of juvenile or child employee) of the Juvenile Justice Act and Section 374 (unlawful compulsory labour) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The victim has been undergoing treatment at a local hospital, said Rishipal of NGO Shakti Vahini, which has got the boy released from his tormentors.
The NGO claimed that the accused had even set his dog on the eight-year-old.
Sources said Gupta’s neighbours had even shot a video of the torture and submitted it to the police.
The case came into light after the NGO complained that the family used to beat up the child.
