THE TEAMS of archery, weightlifting, kayaking, canoeing and shooting will participate in the national games at Guwahati on February 7.
According to the sports department, the athletics contingent comprises 37 athletes, which is the biggest squad from the state. “We are hoping for good performances from the athletes,” said director sports Sanjay Chaudhary.
He will also join the state contingent in the national games. The kayaking and canoeing that has emerged the favourite games in the state has the second largest contingent. It will comprise 25 players. According to the coach Mayank Thajur, the state will get more than 10 medals.
“Our players, including Ankit Pachauri and Nardev Singh, have displayed good performance. I am confident of at least four gold medals from them,” Thakur added.
