Another SP MP to defy party whip on N-deal

india Updated: Jul 10, 2008 23:04 IST

Another Samajwadi Party MP on Thursday came up openly against the Indo-US nuclear deal, saying he is ready to defy party whip on the issue and criticised SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for backing the deal.

"I am against the nuclear deal, which is not in the interest of the country. The Centre is favouring it under pressure of US," Hamirpur MP Raj Narain Badhulia told reporters here.

Earlier, SP MPs Munnawar Hasan and Jai Prakash Rawat raised their voices against SP's stand on the deal and had praised Mayawati.

Budhaulia, who was also present at the meeting of party MPs in New Dehi, said he had protested the deal there also.

"The SP leadership did not take MPs into confidence before favouring the Congress on nuclear deal issue", he said claiming that more MPs would join him in the days to come.
