A section of employees of Rajasthan secretariat has decided to abstain from work on Monday in protest against the central government's decision to provide an additional 27 per cent reservation to other backward classes in higher education.

The decision was taken after a call by the Akhil Bharatiya Samanta Manch to all the employees and officials of Rajasthan secretariat for the boycott.

Sources in the secretariat said that after the call, several officials and employees of the secretariat applied for leave.

Leaders of the secretariat union have asked all employees to converge at SMS Medical College at 11 am to stage the protest.

Informed sources said that several senior officials have lent their support to the employees over the reservation issue.

Meanwhile, undergraduate medical students along with resident doctors of various government and private hospitals have left for New Delhi to take part in the "Maha rally" against the government's caste-based policy.
