Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday asked the Centre to set up more Coast Guard stations in the state and a regional headquarters for strengthening security along its coastline.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah put the demand forward when he met Defence Minister A K Antony.
"In the wake of Mumbai attacks, coastal security is the most important concern for us as we have a long coast line. For coordination purpose, a regional headquarters should be established for Coast Guard as the present HQ in Chennai does not serve the purpose," he told reporters here.
He said the Coast Guard needs to put up more Coast stations in the state to ensure security.
