Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy on Wednesday apologized to the people of the state over the ugly incidents witnessed in the House.
"It is a most unfortunate day in the Assembly's history," Suresh Reddy observed. Talking to presspersons, after the ruckus in the House, the Speaker said that he would order an enquiry into the incidents in the House following the suspension of Opposition MLAs.
"We will enquire whether the MLAs attacked the marshals or the marshals assaulted the MLAs as being alleged," he added.
Reacting to a suggestion made by Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy that he reconsider whether or not the Assembly proceedings be telecast live, Suresh Reddy said that he would consult leaders of all political parties and take a decision in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Assembly adopted the vote-on-account budget for Rs 44,000 crores for the first six months of the 2009-10 financial year.
