Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Satya Pal Jain on Friday asked Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker Kuldeep Sharma to either tender an unqualified apology for his derogatory remarks against Gujarat chief minister Narender Modi or resign to save the dignity of the constitutional office he held.
Sharma had, on Thursday, said that Modi suffered from "oral diarrhoea".
Jain said in a release that Modi was not only the future prime minister of the country but was also a three-time chief minister of Gujarat. The former Chandigarh MP said Sharma's remark made him unbecoming of the office of speaker.
Jain said that it was unfortunate for the country that a person such as Sharma was the speaker of the Haryana assembly.
