Five armed dacoits on Wednesday stopped a four-wheeler at Qaboolpur area in Faridabad and looted them of jewellery and cash.
The incident comes close on the heels of Tuesday's robbery in which a marriage party from Chhattisgarh were looted at gunpoint on the Faridabad-Gurgaon road.
It seems the same dacoits first looted a family from Sohna near Ballabgarh late on Monday night and then robbed the family from Chhattisgarh, police said. Police said the same gang had committed all three robberies -- two in Faridabad and the third in Gurgaon within a gap of few hours.
According to Bhupinder Singh of Sohna, his family had gone to Uccha village in Ballabgarh to attend a marriage. When they were returning home, the armed dacoits stopped their vehicle and took away gold jewellery the women were wearing and cash and other valuable items at gunpoint, he said.
After reaching Sohna, the victims reported the matter to the Gurgaon Police. A case was later registered in Faridabad's Sector 55 police station, as the incident had taken place in its jurisdiction.
"We have registered a case and efforts are being made to arrest the accused," said SHO Sector 55 police station.
Police said Srikant Sharma, a bank officer in Chhattisgarh, and his family had visited Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for the wedding of his sister. The family was returning to Chhattisgarh after the wedding when the robbery took place.
"The same gang committed all three robberies -- two in our area and the third in Gurgaon," commissioner of police, Faridabad, AS Chawla said, adding, "efforts are on to nab the gang."
