Two motorcycle-borne youths allegedly attacked a trader and made off with Rs 50,000 cash here on Thursday.
According to the information, Raj Kumar, a local resident, who was carrying Rs 50,000, was intercepted by the miscreants on Lal Sarak road here. The accused snatched the bag after allegedly attacking Kumar but the victim had a narrow escape.
After hearing the sound of the shots, neighbours of Kumar raised the alarm and informed the police.
Later, traders of the town gathered at Chopta Bazar here and raised slogans against the police. They have decided to hold a meeting of traders on Saturday and later meet chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to seek protection and safety from the criminals in Hansi.
In another incident, some unidentified criminals had demanded a ransom of `5 lakh from Shyam Aggarwal of Hansi. After learning about the incident, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and former minister Subhash Goyal said: "The incidents of crime are increasing day-by-day but the police have failed to curb the crime."
