The Congress is distributing Boleros to all district presidents to enable them to cover maximum area during Bihar assembly election campaigning. They will also get Rs one lakh each for campaigning.
"We have handed over keys of Boleros to 22 district presidents. The rest will get them in due course of time," a party worker said.
In all, 39 Boleros would be distributed in 38 districts with Patna getting an additional vehicle.
The vehicle stock was lying with the party for some time now. According to terms and conditions, district presidents cannot put the vehicles to personal use and in vehicles can be taken back in case of violation. They have to be returned after the campaigning.
The party had also distributed vehicles during the Gujarat elections in 2007 —hiring around 300 Toyota Innovas at a monthly rent of Rs 60,000 per vehicle.
The party is upbeat about the polls after reviewing the reports of 50 observers.
"For the past month party observers were in the state. Their report is encouraging. We are moving in the right direction," Congress general secretary in-charge of Bihar Mukul Wasnik said.
On use of the photo showing Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi, he said the poster points to the reality. "The chief minister (Kumar) never said that posters were false. He rubbed salt to the BJP by cancelling the dinner (during the recent BJP national executive meet in Patna). But the BJP is still clinging to him," he said.
