The security forces on Friday killed two militants in the gunbattle which started yesterday in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
"Two militants were killed in an encounter with police and security forces at Chenigam Kulgam. Arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site. Identity of the slain militants is being ascertained," said Srinagar based spokesman of the zonal police headquarters.
The gunfight was triggered in the afternoon when a joint search party of the army, police and CRPF reportedly came under fire when it tried to zero in the Chanigam village.
"On specific information regarding the presence of armed militants in Chanigam village, the police and the army's 1 RR and 18 Bn of CRPF launched search operation," said a police spokesman.
After the recovery of two bodies from encounter site, firing again started in which two army men, one CRPF man and a civilian got injured. They have been rushed to the local hospital, added spokesperson.
