Army paid Rs 46 lakh rent to people in Kupwara: J-K govt

Jammu and Kashmir government today said that the Army has paid Rs 46.46 lakh rent to people of seven villages in Kupwara district for nearly 196 acres of land.

Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said that the Army has paid Rs 46.46 lakh rent to people of seven villages in Kupwara district for nearly 196 acres of land.


In a written reply in Legislative Assembly, chief minister Omar Abdullah said Army has paid Rs 46,46,397 rent to the people of seven villages of the state.

He said the rent amount was paid to 157 families of Watayan, Qalamabad, Monabal, Harill, Langate, Chakporan and Nougam.

Army has occupied nearly 196 acres of land in the villages for which the rent was paid, he said.
