A team of expert divers and swimmers from an Engineer Regiment of White Knight Corps on Wednesday rescued stranded villagers who on Tuesday afternoon went to collect sand from Tawi river and were caught in the onslaught of flash floods.

Some residents of Pangal village near Sidhra were caught in the strong currents and were marooned in the upper regions of the Tawi river-bed.

As soon as villagers raised an alarm, a team of expert divers and swimmers of White Knight Corps propelled through the current and with the help of improvised floating devices and rope lines, the team ensured those stranded reached the bank safely.
