The Army, deployed in the city after eruption of violence following the demolition of a

by civic authorities last week, will be withdrawn on Tuesday, City Police Commissioner Deepak Swarup said.

The decision was taken following an improvement in the situation, he said.

The forces will be withdrawn from four police station areas - City, Wadi, Panigate and Navpura - at 6 am on Tuesday, he said.

The troops were deployed in six police station areas and had already been withdrawn from Raopura and Karelibagh on Saturday morning.

Six people were killed and over 60 were injured in police firing and clashes.

Meanwhile, the curfew in the violence-hit areas was relaxed for nine hours from 8 am to 5 pm. There was no untoward incidents during the relaxation period.

The curfew will also be relaxed on Tuesday between 8 am to 6 pm, he added.
